P. Boucher, Ph.D.
Born in Hartford, CT. July
22, 1944 to Albert and Loretta Boucher, Dr. Boucher graduated
from the University of Hartford in 1966. He completed his
Ph.D. at the University of Connecticut under Edmund (Tedd)
Dickerman and graduated in 1974. The dissertation title is
"France 'Discovers' America.
After a year teaching
at the University of North Carolina Charlotte, Dr. Boucher
then spent the next 33 years at the University of Alabama
in Huntsville. In 1996 he became the first College of Liberal
Arts faculty member to earn the title of Distinguished professor.
He retired from full time teaching spring of 2007.
Dr. Boucher considers his service
to the French Colonial Historical Society (President, Vice-President,
Editor of four Proceedings, four times conference organizer
or co-organizer and much else) to have been a rewarding career
opportunity.
My beloved wife is Mary Alice Boucher. I have one daughter,
Amanda Countess, two sons, Andrew and Alex Boucher and a grandson,
Henry Countess.
